Cool outside. Hot this Sunday night – The Next Stage: November show.

It feels like much more than a month since we had our first successful Next Stage show at Whispers. But all good things are worth waiting for as they say. October’s inaugural show was a wonderful evening and I knew it would be hard to top but I suspect that this Sunday’s show will definitely be giving it a run for its money.

This Sunday’s show will feature Imran Arshad, Amanda Bon and Kristine St. Pierre. I’ve had the pleasure of watching all three performs play live and I can assure you it’s a coup that Spirit of Rasputin’s has been able to get them all on the same night, in an intimate, no-cover* show.

So come on out and start the month and the week off with an evening of stellar talent. It will be worth coming out, least of all to see the a unique mix of performance styles from duets to lap steel to piano.

About the Performers

Imran has been playing the open mic scene in Ottawa for the past 5 years. He got his start at Rasputin’s Folk Café and since then has played at a number of other venues around town. His songs range from folk to funk, with the odd dog song thrown in there for good measure.

Amanda Bon recently released an impressive first CD Juniper Weekends produced by Danny Artuso who will be accompanying her this Sunday. Find out more about Amanda at her website (http://amandabon NULL.com) where you can listen to clips from the CD and purchase it online. Even better, come to the show and purchase an autographed copy from her! She started her formal music studies at the piano and later moved on to the guitar.

Kristine St. Pierre sings and writes in both English and French, but it is the simplicity with which she illustrates and shares her emotions combined with her familiar voice that makes her an artist to discover. On her website (http://www NULL.kristinestpierre NULL.com) you can discover alot more about her and listen to a few of her songs.

The Next Stage

The concept of an open stage is great. But playing a couple of songs amongst a room full of performers waiting their turn is one thing. To transition from that to more formal, featured, paying gigs is not an easy feat.

Enter the Next Stage: Spirit of Rasputin’s latest endeavour.

The Next Stage will give burgeoning artists a more formal performance setting to help them transition from Open Stage-type shows to bigger and better things(though they’ll always have a home at the Open Stage!). It will be an evening showcase of three hand-picked acts. Each performer will have a 40-minute set in which they will surely dazzle us with their musical prowess.

And so, allow me to announce…
